Windsor, Sonoma County
Windsor was named in 1855 by an early settler who thought the oak-studded countryside resembled the park around Windsor Castle. It remained a farm village until the 1980s and incorporated in 1992. The Town Green, a park ringed by shops and apartments, was built soon after to give the new town a center. Vineyards of the Russian River Valley begin at the western edge.
